About the data
- Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) API, monthly data from January 2001. The EIA publishes about two to three months late.
- Generation covers power plants. Rooftop solar is an EIA estimate (from 2014) and is shown separately, not added to the total.
- Renewable share includes wind, solar, hydro, and biomass. Year-over-year changes always compare the same month a year apart.
- Every update is checked before publishing: the sources must add up to the total, and each year's total must match the EIA's published Colorado state profile.
- Full metric definitions: requirements document.
